Scarlett is the Southern belle who never takes no for an answer.
She marries three times.
The first two men she really does not love.
One of them she stole from her sister.
She captures the heart of Rhett Butler.
Scarlett delivers Mellies baby.
She saves Tara after the Yankees tear it down.
She is in love with Ashley and wants him to leave Mellie for her.
When Scarlett finally realizes she really loves Rhett, it is too late.

Born Vivian Mary Hartley,
on November 5, 1913, in Darjeeling, India
In 1938, Leigh moved to Hollywood to audition
for the most sought-after role in history.
That of the Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara
in producer David O. Selznick’s film version
of Margaret Mitchell’s novel Gone with the Wind.
After a two-year nationwide talent search,
including auditions by some of Hollywood’s leading actresses,
Leigh won the role in December 1938,
after filming had already begun.
With the premiere of the film
a year later, Leigh became a major star,
capturing an Academy Award for Best Actress.
